Behind the Scenes: Live Love Lipstick

I’m thrilled to introduce a new contributor on the papery & cakery blog: Leah Moskowitz!

Leah is my go-to beauty consultant. I find myself sending her a text each and every time I cross the threshold of a Sephora store. Not only is she incredibly fashion savvy, but she is that girl who always looks immaculately put-together. Yes, I hate her for this. A lot. But she has gotten me out of many a beauty bind. I owe most of my makeup supplies to her sage advice!

Leah is going to be blogging about beauty tips and tutorials, and we can’t wait to share her wealth of knowledge with you!

Leah is also the writer of the newly launched Live Love Lipstick blog, where she shares tips on beauty, fashion and living a fabulous life.

Here are a few things you should know about Leah…

Q: What do you do?

A: I work in marketing for a publishing company during the day. I recently launched Live, Love Lipstick where I write about my love obsession with makeup, beauty and fashion with a little wit and humor mixed in.

Q: How would you briefly define your style?

A: I definitely like dabbling in the current trends, as well as mixing styles within outfits. I especially love taking something a little conservative and throwing a fun and edgy spin to it. My closet ranges from J.Crew, Alice & Olivia {see this dress above}, DVF to Forever21.

Q: What is something you are dying to splurge on for Fall?

A: I’m swooning over a pair of Tory Burch brown riding boots! I’m also drooling over the Chloe Paraty Medium bag in “Rock.” I’ll probably just end up with OPI and Essei’s new Fall collection of nail polishes {sigh}.

Q: What is something every woman should have in her closet?

A: A great pair of jeans you can dress up or down, a pair of black pumps {like these above} that don’t kill quite as badly as your other heels, and an array od white and black blouses. You can never have enough.

Q: Where are your favorite places to shop?

A: I love finding a great sale at Saks and Neiman Marcus. I have scored great finds from Gap, J.Crew and Forever21. Sephora and Mac are my go-to’s for beauty. The key is to find a place you are comfortable shopping at, and build a rapport with the sales people. Then you can trust you are buying something “worth it” that is right for you.

Q: Your everyday makeup/beauty routine includes….

A: Apply necessary pimple cream. Lather on the moisturizer {I’m an iguana}. Clinique eye concealer. Liquid foundation or Beauty Balm. Bare Minerals Original Foundation.  Bare Minerals Tinted Mineral Veil.  Bronzer of choice.  Highlighter around the eyes.  Blush.  Curl lashes.  Apply eye liner.  Eyelash primer.  Mascara.  Clean up excess mascara and touch up with bronzer/highlighter.  {Eye shadow on weekends}.

Q: If you were stuck on a dessert island and could only have ONE product with you, what would it be?

A: Before I start going crazy with this one thinking about whether or not I could make a DIY lip balm out of a coconut, I’ll try to stick with the basics.  Since I would be on an island I would already have a fabulous tan {thus, no bronzer}.  I would have to say mascara.  Got to try and look good for the fishes and the rescue team!  I really love Benefit’s They’re Real. {This is assuming I already arrived to the island with plenty of hair ties and bobby pins to rock a bun 24/7 since I’ll be up a creek without a straightener}.

Q: Food cravings include?

A: Pasta, soup, popcorn, Sour Patch Kids and artichokes. {Normal?}

Q: A quote to live by…

A: “A smile is an inexpensive way to change your look.”  -Charles Gordy

Q: Your biggest “don’t” for fashion and beauty?

A: Don’t force a look. Not every style and trend is for every woman.  Figure out what works best for you and your body and stick to it. That and don’t use waterproof mascara, kills the lashes!!

Be sure to check out Live Love Lipstick! We can’t wait for Leah’s beauty tips on papery & cakery starting next week!
