Cakery Friday: Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Balls

DSC07098

As promised, for Cakery Friday, I’ve made these delicious cookie dough balls. This was a little more interactive than I had originally planned for…. but after my friends read last weeks post about Joy the Baker’s infamous recipe,  they insisted they help make the balls {which turned into eating the balls}. A big thank you to Alli and Talia for spreading sprinkles and chocolate all over my kitchen {and for continuing to be my friend even after I post these pictures}.

Gather all of the ingredients:

In the bowl of your electric mixer, fitted with the paddle attachment, cream together 1 stick of unsalted, room temperature, butter, 1/2 cup of firmly pack brown sugar and 1/3 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Add in 1/3 cup of greek yogurt and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Mix until full incorporated.

Add in 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons of all purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda and 3/4 teaspoon of salt. Mix until just incorporated.

Fold in 1 cup of semi sweet chocolate chips.

Using a medium ice cream scoop {or whatever size you want your balls to be}. Scoop balls onto a sheet tray lined with a Silpat mat or parchment paper. Place either a plastic fork or a stick into the balls and freeze for at least 2 hours, or until they are frozen.

Decorate however you prefer, we melted semi sweet chocolate and dipped the balls into sprinkles and sugar.

Consume immediately or return to freezer {lets be honest, they won’t last very long!}
