It seems oddly ignorant not to step away from the blog for the night and mention the terrible devastation in Haiti. It’s amazing how much we take for granted–the roof over our heads, a warm meal, and clean water. These things seem so natural to us, but right now in Haiti these things are unattainable luxuries.
I implore and encourage you to do what you can to help Haiti–be it donations of your time, money or supplies. The Red Cross is just one of the many worthy organizations doing amazing work to help rebuild Haiti. Click here to make a donation. Or SMS text “HAITI” to 90999 to donate $10.
Read your local paper for news on food, water and supply drives, telethons and other fundraising activities. Here’s today’s article on how to help from the Sun Sentinel.
Whatever you give will most certainly be both needed and appreciated.
This crisis has definitely helped me to reflect upon everything in my life. I am so blessed to live with the privileges of democracy, a stable government, a safe and secure home, food, water and friends and family who I love dearly.
xoxo,
Niki
