Pool Party

Labor day might be over, but here in Florida we’re on the cusp of some gorgeous pool weather. Aqua just happens to be my favorite color. Cole and I were even able to incorporate the pool into our wedding last year by holding our cocktail hour poolside.
Sure everyone loves a pool party, but here are a few more sophisticated ideas to dress up the water at a swanky event.

Martha accentuates the pool by surrounding it with columns of light and filling it with ethereal white beach balls (tied to the bottom with weights).

This beautiful photograph from Jeff Kolodny of Florida, taken at the Ritz Carlton, Palm Beach, features floating mini lamp votives.

Photographer Eric Hegwer captured a particularly lovely cluster of orange daisies floating at an Austin affair.

Preston Bailey’s at it again, this time with a gorgeous fountain overflowing with red and pink lush roses and petals. Simply stunning.

Floating balls of brightly colored flowers are all the rage in the middle of a pool for an artistic, au courant vibe. Via weddings featured on brides.com.

Set elegant floating lanterns surrounded by moss in the water, like this fete featured on Inside Weddings.
Scatter petals into a romantic pool to set a vintage and chic tone, similar to this wedding on Style Me Pretty.

Fill the pool to the brim with a variety of boldly hued gerber daisies for a fresh Spring awakening, via Inside Weddings.

Step one: fill pool with bright yellow balloons. Step two: have friends drunkenly jump into balloon pool once “big day” is complete. Results: a wedding that looks like ridiculous amounts of fun. Via Erin Hearts Court.

Niki

Great ideas! This post reminds me of my own wedding! My mom made floating flower rings with votives for the pool at the estate where our reception was! It was nearly 8 years ago…so thank you for reminding me of that little detail of my big day! 🙂

I LOVE using the pool to add color or fun to a party! I know living in FL you typically get to do year round!

Beautiful ideas!! I wish I had a pool to do some of these. I love the balls floating in the water and the flower balls too! Candles are always gorgeous around water! Thanks for sharing! I just love looking at these!
