We featured Carly’s Graduation Gala in the Garden in our latest June newsletter, and wow it was oh so spectacular! The invitations and thank you notes are Cat Seto for papery & cakery, complete with aqua swarovski crystal accents. This fabulous brunch fete took place in the grad’s very own backyard. The yellow table cloths were a perfect accent to the tall daisy taupiary centerpieces with ribbons.
The brunch buffet featured a huge array of delicious treats–from bagels and smoked salmon, spinach frittata, fruit salad and a giant grilled vegetable platter. Guests enjoyed bellinis, mimosas and freshly squeezed orange juice. Dessert was equally as yummy: brownies, cookies, key lime pie, and a chocolate cup filled with orange moose. My personal favorite were the peanut butter candy cup “graduation caps” with little tags to congratulate the entire class. For a great how-to on the candy caps, be sure to check out the bakerella’s blog.
Hooray to Carly and the rest of the class of 2009!
I’m obsessed with my new Martha Stewart Cupcakes cookbook. I just can’t stop reading it and looking through the amazing photography! It’s making me want to plan entire parties around these fabulous little iced treats. I wish I could feature them all on the blog, but here are a few of my favorites, equipped with links to the recipes.
Peonies are romantic, fluffy, soft and stunning. I absolutely love the way they look at a wedding. Lots of invitations feature this incredible flower. Louella Press features an engraved pink peony on their crisp, thick stock. Wiley Valentine’s peony is shown in a deep coral, offset onto a rich cotton paper. Dauphine’s letterpress peony suite is show in peach and raspberry colors. The text box elegantly mimics the flower with its flowing lines.
Peonies are perfect for early summer events, when they are in high season. Greek legend dictates that mischievous nymphs would hide in the petals of a peony, causing the flower to be associated with bashfulness.
Of course, they are also Blair Waldorf’s favorite flower too….
