Winter’s almost here! In South Florida that means temperatures in the 60′s and 70′s, lots of sunshine and of course, snowbirds! Winter weddings are incredibly elegant no matter where they are. Here at Papery & Cakery, we have tons of amazing black & white invitations that would be perfect for a chic winter affair. Included in this inspiration board are letterpress invites from Smock, Cheree Berry, Twig & Fig, and Wiley Valentine. There are also gorgeous engraved invitations from Louella and Paula Houston. Check out the Carolina Herrera bridal gown with black embroidery which would look perfect with these fabulous Louboutin stilettos! Of course I had to throw in a few of my favorite vampires from the Twilight series. Stephenie Meyer’s books have bitten me and I’m a total sucker!
I completely fell in love with Julie Holcomb’s Special Edition Wedding Stationery book the second it arrived in the mail! The newest designs combine Julie’s elegant, old-world letterpress with the option of artistic customization. Translation: you can put an amazing photo or incredible artwork on the back of your invitation/announcement/thank you/save the date. The possibilities are endless!
Julie lets you either choose your backing from her art work, an array of photographs including pictures of roses, fall foliage & my personal favorite, a turquoise colored ocean with a white sand beach…. paradise! The other option is to send in your own photograph or art and have it screened as a backing to the invitation. The front of the invitation with the text is Julie’s extraordinary traditional letterpress. You can choose all of the options from her original line including the handmade heavier stock, rounded corners, an array of gorgeous fonts, ink colors & motifs, and of course her signature colored edges. Everything is still printed on her smooth and creamy cotton paper. I especially appreciate Julie’s constant commitment to the environment.
One of the most fabulous things in the book is an invitation to a 50th wedding anniversary. The backing features a vintage black & white photo from the actual wedding! It’s so chic and darling and sets the tone perfectly for the occasion. These would also make gorgeous holiday cards. I love the idea of making your invitation completely unique.
